Barplats Acquisition Closes

Eastern Platinum Limited ("Eastplats") is pleased to announce the closing of its acquisition of the minority shareholdings of Barplats Investments Limited ("Barplats"), as previously detailed in news releases of March 1 and May 4, 2007. In connection with the acquisition Eastplats issued a total of 17,272,460 common shares and paid a total of ZAR12,337,471 (approximately Cdn$1,970,000) to the minority shareholders of Barplats.

Following the acquisition Eastplats owns approximately 74% of Barplats with the balance held by its BEE partner Gubevu Consortium Holdings (Pty) Limited.

In connection with the acquisition the shares of Eastplats were listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange ("JSE") effective May 21, 2007 and trade under the symbol EPS. The shares of Barplats were delisted from the JSE effective May 28, 2007.
